Went to Armleder Park in Cincinnati, this evening to hike around just to see if anything new is showing up. In the bean field there were some Solitary Sandpipers feeding the water edges. They were far out in the field for any good photographs but took a few documentation photos. Did see a bald eagle fly by put I was in the woods and couldn't get a clean shot. Walking in I jumped a large bird and thought it was a Barred Owl but only saw it for a second and lost it. But later when leaving I heard the Barred Owl calling. Best part of the evening is finding a pair of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers building a nest. All photos shot with Nikon D7200 and Sigma 150-600 sport lens on a monopod. On one the Sandpiper images I added a Sigma 1.4 TC to the lens.

This evening on my way home I drove through the Oxbow in Indiana. Did get a couple of Warbler photos. They were in poor contrast light but it was good just to see them. First was a Palm Warbler and then a Prothonotary Warbler both were beautiful birds. Then I saw 2 immature Bald Eagles. From a distance I thought they were vultures. Almost to far away to get any good shots. All photos were taken with nikon D7200 and sigma 150-600 sport lens on a monopod. All the pictures were taken form a distance and cropped.

After work I went of French Park in Cincinnati, my old stomping ground. There were a pair of Mallards in the creek. Got a few shots of the ducks. Hiking along the creek I jumped the Great Horned Owl. He flew off before I could get a shot but he didn't go far. Just watched him for a while. Then I started to slowly try to get closer and find a open spot in the trees to photograph.
He tolerated me for quit some time and he moved to a few different branches. I was able to shoot from several open spots in the trees and brush. About 40 minutes later a dog walker walks right between me and the owl. I don't think I need to say anymore. All photos were taken with Nikon D7200 and Sigma 150-600 sport lens on a monopod. The 2nd owl image I also used a sigma 1.4 TC.

It was a cold, windy and cloudy Saturday Morning with flurries in the air. So I went to the Cincinnati Zoo to check how the tulips were doing. I wanted to do some macro flower shots but the wind was to hard to work with. Did try a few tulips shots with a used Sigma 50mm macro I picked up a few weeks ago. It was too cold for many of the animals to be out. Tulip shot with Sigma 50mm macro Nikon d7200. Redhead duck and Painted Dog were taken with Sigma 150-600mm sport and Nikon d7200.
All were shot hand-held.

On my way home from work in Indiana, I was able to stop by the eagles nest in Brookville. The weather was nice and had good evening light. Talked with a few photographers that had been at the nest site for awhile and they said activity was slow. I did get a few fly byes. The chicks were starting to pop their head just high enough to see the top of there heads. Got a bonus photo of a Great Blue Heron flying by. All photos were with Nikon D7200 and Sigma 150-600mm sport on a tripod.

This morning I took a trip to the Cincinnati Zoo. There was a mix of clouds and sun. I like photographing the Gorillas first thing in the morning because of the warm directional light.
Posted are a copy of original raw file and finished photo. Raw file was taken with Nikon D300s, 300mm f4 lens, tripod and sb800 flash. Manual mode- 1/60 @ f6.3, iso280 w/flash. Used fill flash to open dark shadows in the face and eyes.
Image was processed in Lightroom 5 only. White balance, highlights, shadows. whites, blacks, clarity, vibrance and crop adjustments were all done in LR. I am finding myself doing most of my post processing in the LR Develop module or PS Camera Raw.
My first image is a macro shot of a wet fly. The image took a 1st place print at our camera club.
